Bought the Morpower washer this summer. Wouldn't start by electric or pull. Had a mechanic try for a couple of hours and finally got it to start by pull rope. It ran fine, but it wouldn't restart when hot or cold with electric start. Have tried numerous times with the help of 2 mechanics and still can't get electric start to work. 2010.12.2 Update:
I have now used the L5 daily for over two years (sometimes up to three times per day). Everything I posted below is accurate and the L5 has never failed me. Running it at midnight, in the middle of winter, in well-below-zero weather, with high winds rocking the trailer, high on an exposed ridge at 7,500 feet, I have never had to turn the L5's propane regulator control (i.e. temperature control) above 50% as doing so would raise blisters . . . and I like a shower so hot that I have to keep moving.
This is an incredible shower.

Greetings!
I have a lot to say about the L5 as I am pushing the limits of its functionality; I have been using it daily for the past six weeks, completely off-grid, and am thrilled to have it! To distill the following details into a few words:
Pros: A Godsend for someone completely off-grid, living under extreme conditions! There is nothing else available like it (that I could find).
Cons: It is designed to minimize any risks, no matter how used--thus limiting its versatility and, possibly, its long-term reliability, though it has functioned perfectly for the past six weeks.
The following notes are in four parts:
- Installation (where I have it installed)
- Operation (how it must be set up under such conditions)
- Praise
- Concerns
Installation:
I am using the L5 completely off-grid. It is inside a custom-built, remote-camping, clear polycarbonate trailer that was built to test the infrastructure of the Lotus Dome ( LotusDome dot com ). The trailer is currently at an elevation of 7,500 feet in the mountains of Utah. The temperature range here can get above 100 degreesF during the summer and can get down to well below zero during the winter. Great conditions for testing purposes!
The roof of the trailer holds a custom, 218-gallon, aluminum water tank (it needs to be on the roof to keep ice from clogging the drain). The drain feeds down to the L5 which is suspended about six inches beneath the tank. A 12VDC SHURflo Nautilus pump is mounted directly beneath the L5 pumping water up into the l5's water intake fitting.
Operation:
To get this pump to work under these conditions requires very strict installation and operation, as the Nautilus pump is rated at 1GPM, 10 PSI, max.:
- The pump must be installed directly under the L5's water intake fitting.
- The set screw for adjusting the pressure needed to open the L5 diaphragm (located under the right side of the water regulator, pointing straight down), which controls whether the L5 will ignite or not, needs to be unscrewed (i.e. "backed out") until water starts to drip out around the screw. The screw is then re-tightened about one-half turn.
- The L5 water regulator (the dial on the right side of the front panel of the L5) needs to be turned fully clockwise--to the "MIN" setting
In setting up the L5, I have discovered--through repeated trial and error--that the L5 WILL NOT IGNITE if these conditions are not met. To reiterate: if the pump is not _immediately_ below the L5, pumping up into it; if the set screw is not backed out to minimize the required water pressure; and if the Water Regulator dial is not set all the way clockwise to the "MIN" setting, the L5 will NOT ignite. This is my experience, "your mileage may vary." (It may be possible to remove the spring that controls the diaphragm, but I have not tried to do so.)
Praise:
The L5, when functioning as intended, is a spectacular unit; there is no other water heater that can generate 37.5K BTUs worth of hot water in such a compact, portable unit. It has no competition; it is a Godsend for me. The L5 with a 12VDC Nautilus pump is perfect for my showering needs, pumping a minimum amount of water through the L5 and out through a Zodi shower head--at one-half gallon per minute!--provides a wonderful amount of water, at a very comfortable pressure and temperature. It even has a drain for use in sub-freezing temperatures!
Pumping much less water through the L5 than it is designed to handle, results in water that is _much_ hotter than when using the included shower head. This is a great help when the water is at or below 32 degreesF (and, yes, this is possible if the water is flowing) and, of course, it then also uses much less water and much less propane!
It has also been noted (and often not favorably) that the control unit will shut the burners off after seventeen minutes. I, too, was very concerned about this. However, after talking to John at GES, he confirmed what is stated in the user's manual: "[the timer] is reset each time operation stops or the shower head is turned off and back on." What this means is that if, during your shower, the burners are suddenly turned off by the timer, you need only turn the On/Off switch (under the unit) off and then immediately back on again, and the burners will immediately fire back up. I tried this out a few times and found that if you just quickly turn the L5 off and back on again, you will have just a very few seconds of _slightly_ cooler water and then the water temperature is restored. It really became a non-issue for me . . .
Concerns:
That the Nautilus pump can push water through the L5 at a very comfortable (I would say "luxurious"!) rate and pressure--when used with the one-half-gallon-per-minute Zodi shower head--causes me to feel that the unit is too restrictive with its safety features. The many safety features compromise the L5 when used in conditions where its reliability is essential. Out in the field, "simple" is very important and in this regard, Zodi is king! (FYI, I found that the use of a 12VDC water pump that produces 45 PSI will either blow the fuse of the line supplying power to the pump--due to turning the L5 water regulator down so far--or it will generate an very unpleasant amount of water pressure . . . and waste a lot of water.)
The entire control system for the L5 could have been replaced with one push-button igniter and two sentences in the user's manual (and thus also reducing the price of the L5):
- Do not ignite the burners until water is flowing freely from the output fitting, and
- Do not stop the flow of water until the burners have been turned off and the water is cool to the touch.
This is why I was, and remain, a very strong fan of the Zodi products: they make very reliable (and very highly regarded!) products and their user's manuals are very clear and concise. If they made a 30K BTU version of the HotTap HP (I suggested they call it the "HotTap HP3"), I would not have found the L5.
As I have to import water from a distant town, it is imperative that I conserve water; I go through approximately 200 gallons per month, for all my water needs, including showering every day. Zodi's shower head uses one-half gallon of water per minute and is the lowest-flow shower head that I have ever found. One of my biggest concerns about the L5 is that the L5 provides such luxurious showers, I have difficulty turning it off and end up using more water than I normally would!

For those of you who waded through this tome, blessings to you and to all your loved ones!

Living in an area prone to the occassional bad weather/loss of electricity prompted me to look into a reliable hot water alternative. Sometimes its the little things that matter - like the ability to take a hot shower after days of no hot water due to a hurricane. It makes a bad day little more bearable. Wasn't sure what to expect from this little unit but after nearly a 2 wk wait, opened the box, set it up in just minutes and instant hot water!
Connected a routine garden hose and water was instantly hot - the ability to set the temperature is conveniently located in the front and set on high it was uncomfortably hot so should do decently if your water source is colder than average. For relatively warm areas where the water remains a more or less temperate, this easily brings it to a temperature as hot as you would like...plus a little.
Very easy to set-up/take down. Unit is fairly heavy so will need solid support but overall, impressed by operation. Shower head is decent and output flow more than adequate. It won't take the place of your normal shower head but you won't feel like it takes forever to get wet either.
Unit specifies you will need teflon tape for securing seals so keep some handy. We used to begin with and unit operated perfectly - no leaks. Turns off immediately when water is shut down and turns on again quickly. Impressive little unit and exceptionally glad to have purchased. In fact, like it so much may permanently install one outside for dog washing and other quick clean-up. Waiting to see how this one endures over time...still too new to tell. Well worth the $.

This pressure washer extension hose was recommended to be bought with the pressure washer I purchased. However, it does not work with my pressure washer without an additional part I had to purchase. Hopefully when the part arrives I will be able to use the extension. I feel taken advantage of by Amazon.com for recommending this extension.

I bought this extension cable to go along with my FAIP PWS1600 powerwasher and it works perfectly. It comes with a brass "barrel" connector that attaches the extension cable to your existing cable. I can leave the powerwasher stationary and cover a lot of ground with all of the cable length I have as I intend to occassionally get up on the roof of my one story ranch and do some low pressure cleaning.
It comes coiled up so you will have to "break it in" by laying it out and unravelling it, but after a few hours of work the first day it was flat and unwieldy.
There may be less expensive cables out there but this one works fine. It mates perfectly with my "FAIP Powerwasher" brand, but you might need additional adapters if you have a different make of pressure washer. All in all for me this was an excellent purchase.

This is the perfect machine for your home, it is not intended for hard or industrial jobs, it will clean your garage, decks, walls, will keep your windows out of dust and spiderwebs, beware with your car when washing, it can damage its paint, 1600 PSI definitely will damage the car's paint if you do not keep a reasonable distance between your car and the machine.
For 99 dlls it is the best deal you can find, after reviewing many machines I decided for this All Power America pressure washer and it works very well for the activities I mentioned, I think i do not need more at home

I had a 1500 PSI Karcher before this one. It was weak and it died in 6 months. The All Power blows it away hands down and it costs less. Sprayer is thin and goes to a pretty powerful spray that can hurt you (this is good). Also has a nice mist spread.
When the motor stops it sounds a little odd though. Like gears grinding to a sudden stop. Pretty sure it's normal but it makes me wonder if it's suppose to do that, or if it might wear the motor out eventually. I use it for silkscreening and it's been amazing so far.

I ordered the Generac Pressure Washer after much reviewing and searching. It had good ratings and seemed quite a bit of Presure Washer for the money. Same price everywhere but some wanted freight unloading of up to $50. I chose Amazon because I have ordered quite a bit before with good luck. I received the Washer on date they said via UPS so no freight problems. There was just the Washer and parts in the box with virtually no packing except thin strip of paper stuck in box serving no purpose. A piece was broken where spray gun hangs and a couple of screws and allen wrench missing for putting on Hose Hanger. I notified Amazon stating what happened and thought it was minor but for the price I paid (629.00) I expected it to be corrected. Expecting parts, Amazon to my surprise, sent a whole new Washer and sent a label to send other one back. This one packed much better. Had quite a bit of trouble finding out how much oil for Washer Pump. No amount in instruction manual and Generac said to the "full line". Trouble is there was no full line. Just a long notch in dipstick with two vent holes above. Finally found out from Representative from another Company selling Pressure Washers. Anyway, used only once so far due to heat wave in our area but worked very well. Started on second pull right out of box after servicing. Also am very happy with Amazon in the way they handled the whole ordeal and to Angel on the Chat Line for being very nice and taking care of the problem. R. East

I have used this pressure washer for about 5 hours on two separate days since purchasing. I cleaned the front of the house (siding) and the front steps (concrete). I used the green nozzle and was surprised how good of a job it did, especially on the concrete. I next did the concrete driveway and it looks like a new concrete job. Machine is very easy to use. Just read the instructions so you know how to make it last.

I've had one of these for about three years. It worked great for the first ten hours of operation.
However, for the last couple of years, it has spent more time in the repair shop than it has at my home.
First, on a positive note, the Honda engine is very effective. It starts reliably. It runs smoothly. I wish it had a bigger gas tank, but, overall, you can use it about an hour before having to feed it gas. It works - consistently and reliably.
Second, the pump is very effective. The problem is, however, that it is poorly designed for anything other than being used to wash a floor in a heated garage. As a plus, the pump has a brass head, and, an aluminum body. The moron who designed this, however, used plastic seals and impellers. If this is not stored in a heated garage when the temperatures get below freezing, you can kiss the pump goodbye. A simple freeze will destroy the plastic inside the pump. A new pump will cost you about $200.00, plus the labor to install it, plus the time lost having to get it to a repair shop, and, the use lost while it sits in the shop waiting for a new pump. A pressure pump is only as good as its cheapest part. This isn't any good under any demanding or realistic use conditions because of the cheap plastic interior parts.
Third, if you leave the pressure nozzles (an expensive $27.00 per set plus shipping) on the chassis, and, don't keep it indoors, the tips will rust or corrode and become worthless.
Fourth, it's difficult to hook up a garden hose to the pump because it's cradled in the frame, and, you need acrobatics to get the hose on the pump inlet, and, tighten it down. The hose for the wand and spray function is equally difficult to hook up to the pump. This means that you often spend more time messing around with the hoses than you actually spend cleaning on most projects.
Fifth, the wheels are tiny. They work great if you just have to move this thing a few feet, on a level concrete surface. If you have to drag or push it over uneven ground, to use outdoors, you will snag the chassis on every little bump, rock or anomaly in the surface over which you are transporting it. Often, if you are using this outdoors, you have to just pick up the heavy item (about 70 lbs) and carry to where you want to use it.
Sixth, the suction device for soap and other cleaners is one of the most mickey mouse arrangements I've ever seen. Maybe the guy who designed this knows how to get it to work reliably, but, if you aren't the guy who designed it, you'll spend hours trying to get soap or other cleaners into the system. In addition, you MUST have this on a completely level surface to even have a chance of getting the suction hose to draw cleaners from a container (which you must provide). Good luck finding a container that works. It has to be tall and thin, but, stand up and resist falling over when accidentally knocked with one of the hoses or a million other mishaps (including windy conditions) which can knock it over.
Seventh, the hose hanger is a joke. It's so flimsy, if you are trying to move the device over uneven ground, the hose and wand are LIKELY to get entangled in the tiny wheels. It can take you five minutes to wind up the wand hose and get it on the hanger so that it doesn't fall off when you move this.
This is good for cleaning a garage floor in a heated garage. For most other cleaning tasks, however, this is likely to cost you about $25.00 - $40.00 per hour of use before it breaks down and you have to replace something. PARTS ARE UNIVERSALLY UNAVAILABLE TO FIX THIS THING. OFTEN THE MANUFACTURER SHIPS PARTS WITH THE WRONG THREADING and you have to find a machine shop to fix this thing.

The item was damaged in shipping. After 45 minutes on hold with Karcher they sent out a replacement spray gun. The engine muffler was damaged in shipping but Karcker does not have a replacement part to send out. Karcher told me to contact Amazon.com. Amazon will not take a return on this item. Amazon should not be selling these if they can not take returns. So far Karcher and Amazon are not standing behind the product they are selling.
There are other reviews of this item being damaged in shipping. I should have steered clear after reading those.
The power of the unit is OK. The Honda engine does start easy.
I would not buy this again. I would only recommend this item to a Amazon or Karcher employee so they can deal with the lack of support.

The All-Power America APG3014 generator with 3 Hp, JF156 engine performs OK for the price but the output power is less than advertised.
Using accurate meters, an oscilloscope, and some resistive loads, I measured several output factors:
1.) voltage was 122.5 Volts.
2). reliable current was only 10 Amps (1225 watts) -- 11 Amps (1348 watts) caused the engine to slow way down and 12 Amps (1470 watts) caused the engine to stop.
3.) waveform was sinusoidal without anything plugged in but turned somewhat triangular under load.
4.) frequency was 60 Hz except while the engine throttle was adjusting to different appliance loads.
When looking at the manufacturer (Jiangsu Jiangdong Group) specifications web page for their JD 1500 unit, I noticed that they rate their JF156 engine, 60 Hz unit at only 1.3 kVA (1300 watts -- not 1400 watts as advertised for the All-Power America version and with a peak output of 1.5 kVA (1500 watts -- not the 2000 watts as advertised for the All-Power America version.
My conclusion is that the JF156, 3 Hp engine is undersized and can't produce advertised output. I see that the APG3010 All-Power America 2000 watt unit uses a 4 HP engine All Power America APG3010 2,000 Watt 4 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator.
We have had a number of short-term electric power outages due to weather conditions such as wind, ice, and snow causing trees and limbs to fall into the power lines. I wanted a small, inexpensive generator to power a few appliances and lights during infrequent, short-term outages.
I tested the generator simulating a power outage and it performed fairly well. It powered our natural gas central heating furnace igniter and blower motor, refrigerator, computers, bathroom exhaust fans, and lights -- all at the same time.
My unit started up with only a few pulls. The unit is as loud as our 5 HP lawnmower. The battery-charging feature works well. The Physical size of the unit was larger than advertised: height 14 3/4 in., width 13 3/4 in., and length 18 1/16 in.
I called the All-Power America customer service line and only had to wait for about 30 seconds to speak to the rep. She was very helpful and gave me contact information for service shops in the cities near me.
I'm happy with the value of this purchase for my application but, if I planned to use any serious power tools, I'd get a substantially larger generator unit.

If you're looking for one of the smallest/cheapest generators that can still run nearly any 120V item, this is a good choice. It's got enough power to handle starting a motor like your fridge in a power outage (which is something most would want) and one like this is the minimum size I'd trust for that job having at least ~1500 watts (but beware that their "2000 watt" main label is the surge rating and not the "continuous" number which a lot of ads do). This isn't into the $300+ category or ones that are so big you need wheels on them to save your back while moving it (but it is over 50lbs as you should expect with such equipment). With it having a 4 stroke engine you don't need deal with mixing gas/oil like some other small units need.
I actually ordered this thru northern tools and when it was shipped (probably from OEM) it was double boxed to help minimize chances of damage. I've had no problems with it, but have been careful with what I run knowing it doesn't have that big a capacity (like if starting a motor, I do that with nothing else plugged in).

This is a solid and well built in the USA machine. The PS4240S packs a serious punch and is not for the weak or wimpy. This unit weighs in at 150 pounds when fueled. It runs smooth and fairly quiet for it's size (13 HP). This machine is itchin' to work within 30 minutes, add oil and gas, hook up hoses, follow intial use instructions and you'll be in pressure washer heaven. I did read the negative review of a broken product. This is a freight delivery item and one must SIGN to accept the item. It is the responsibility of the PURCHASER to INSPECT an item BEFORE it is unloaded and signed for. People in her category is what the "local" big box store is for. I would definitely recommend this item to others.
