I purchased this unit in the spring and it worked well. The issue with it comes when you have to get it ready for wintewr storage. Draining the oil without it going all over is a problem because the drain is located next to the frame and by the wheel. I am in the process of trying to make an extension for the drain, which is difficult because of the unusual tread size. Additionally. the spark plugs are over $12 per plug, again because it is an unusual type plug and the manual does not give any cross referencers in order to buy a more generic plug. I give it a three star rating because of maintenace issues.
I seriously considered buying this unit, but decided against it. My local retailer swore that the engine for this unit was made by Generac in this country. I was skeptical. I then called Generac customer service and asked them point blank where the engine was made. They told me it was made in China. Now don't get me wrong here, I think that there are some things made in China which are pretty good, but I just don't feel that their quality control and materials have reached the point where they make relatively complicated mechanical devices which are comparable to that of other prime time companies. I would also be very concerned about getting parts when necessary. Moreover, I actually read the "2 year warranty" and found that the second year only warrants basic parts on the engine--no labor. Based on what I have found, I would stay away from this unit and look for something powered by Honda, Subaru, or even Briggs. Just MHO.
